I Spent $25,000 Fixing My Combine! (Harvest Prep)
After four years of basic service to the combine, I knew some things really needing repair, and it was going to be an expensive year for the combine. With the help of our neighbors Mark and Bryce, we were able to do some of the work ourselves on it! The entire feeder house needed rebuilt, clean grain elevator replaced, unload auger replaced, corn head stock rolls replaced, slip clutches and many more repairs! We got it all done and are prepared for Harvest. I pulled some ears out of the hybrid plot to see how things look this year. I think there will be some unbelievable yields this year on certain parts of the field, and then where there were drown-out spots, it will really kill the fiel...

I Bought A John Deere 4020 Powershift Tractor!
Просмотров 143 тыс.14 дней назад
For the past year I've been searching for a John Deere 4020 Powershift with Side Console, and 2 SCVs. I had a hard time finding one at a good price. Earlier this Summer one came across FB marketing place in So. Minnesota and I went to purchase it right away. It's been an awesome tractor! Replanting Ponded Fields & Spraying!
Просмотров 32 тыс.14 дней назад
We started off the summer with way too much rain, ponding, and tile issues. We got the tile all patched up for the Summer and will hopefully replace it this fall. Also got some spraying & top-dressing done in this video. I honestly can't believe how well the corn crop has rebounded with how much rain we got earlier in the season. Pretty insane! There's some good potential out there still! Thank...
Planting Corn on the New Farm!
Просмотров 60 тыс.2 месяца назад
We're planting my only field of Corn! I wish I had more Corn, but for this year this is the only field. It's just how crop rotation worked out this year with so much buying/selling of land. We have a high/low management hybrid plot going in on this farm with Advanced Agriltyics. Basically, looking at how certain hybrids handle higher or lower management environments. (When it comes to High M st...
First Day of Planting & First Time Spraying!

It's the First Day of Plant24! We're planting soybeans in one of Spencer's and my fields. Spencer bought half of the farm last March, and I bought the other half in September. We cleared the fenceline and now combined the field all as one. I am spraying for the first time, so I have some help from our neighbor Mark using his mix station, and learning how to mix chem correctly. Really helps bein...
Seeding Oats & Alfalfa for Hay Production!
Просмотров 145 тыс.4 месяца назад
Spencer's giving some Alfalfa a shot this year! The guy is addicted to Hay. We got some Oats seeded with the help of a neighbor and then came back and seeded Alfalfa right over the top. We did about 13 Acres. The plan is to combine the oats in July and then bale the straw. Also got the sprayer figured out and ready to roll for plant24! Thanks for watching! An Early Start at Spring Fieldwork!
Просмотров 264 тыс.5 месяцев назад
The start of some fieldwork! Some chisel plowing, disking, and fixing some old clay tile on a few farms. Also, we got a sprayer bought! So will finally be able to learn the ropes and do our own spraying! I've traded off a few farms for other farmland about 90 miles NW from where I originally started farming, and that means everything in the machine shed I built in 2021 needs to get moved by the...

Buying & Selling some Iowa Farmland! Starting to transition closer to home and near Spencer's current farmland. Young Farmer Harvests His First Crop!
Просмотров 44 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Spencer got to harvest his first crop this year! We hauled the combine up 90 miles to harvest his farm and the neighbor's farm! I was fortunate enough to purchase the neighbor's farm, so next year, we'll be clearing the fence line and farming them as one. Spencer's crop ended up doing good for the conditions he had to work with this Spring. He did a lot of tree clearing this spring, and disking...
Big Corn Harvest Day!

It's the last day of Corn Harvest on my farms! We finished a corn on corn farm, and then moved to one of the farms that I rent. We had a really good year despite the dry conditions over the summer, and the drain tile improvement we did last fall has helped a ton on corn yields! Next video we'll be hauling the combine up to Spencer's Farm. Trying to get back in the swing of editing real-life vid...

Start of Corn Harvest!! (Close Call with Wagons & Hills)

The Start of Corn! Been waiting for this day for awhile. The first field we went to is the field we pattern-tiled last fall. It's looked decent all year and very consistent. Ear size was not as big as hoped but it put out a decent yield! We still have about 50 acres left on that farm to harvest, only did 24 acres! Also had a close call with 2 wagons on the hills. The tractor went into a bad pow...

Id rather run 4 solid 20,30,40 series Deere’s than one newer one having to hook and unhook constantly. That’s all wasted time. My opinion the older 20-55 series are mechanically better anyways than the newer ones. They don’t build tractors like they used to

I’d leave the cab, I run one with a disc vine. At the speed you would cut you get more than enough airflow through. The other nice thing with those is how little fuel they go through

What if it snows , you can get an After market AC to go on it . What if it rains before you can get home from the field. You can never have to many 4020's. If you use a big round Hey Baylor you need the other one with front-end Loader. To load the hay.

I agree with everyone else about the cab. I think down the road you would regret taking it off. It provides shade from the sun, protection from the wind and with the windows all out you have really good air flow. I also have to comment on how good a worker Ty is. That young man hung right in there with you guys pitching & stacking hay. That's a hot and dirty job and he took it in stride. Good to see these days.

I need to look back. I think like 70-100hrs last year. When I changed the oil filter it was somewhere around there. For me it's all about gaining experience/learning at the moment. If there's a little cost through the school of experience, I'm cool with that! Since I don't have many acres I run a lot of trials in fields. I know I have time in the fall to mess around with them with the combine- It works good!
